Africa

To apply for a CS4HS award, you will need to complete the application form with information about you and the project. Please read our FAQs and make sure you meet the eligibility requirements before applying. Google will use the information collected in this form to determine the eligibility for a CS4HS award.

Tips for a successful application:

  • Project contains computer science content.
  • Project creates new materials that can be brought directly back to the classroom or used elsewhere by anyone (open source).
  • Project has regional reach with the potential to scale nationally/internationally.
  • There is careful budget consideration and a clear breakdown of how the funding will be used.
  • Project provides a hands-on experience and includes activities for participants that are interactive and allows them to manipulate the subject themselves.
  • There is follow up activity and continued learning for the target audience.
  • How you will develop and/or support a Community of Practice

Awards

Institutions may receive support of up to $15,000 each. Additional funding is available for projects with regional reach and the potential to scale nationally. This can be through MOOCs or collaborating with other organisations.

For funded projects, we appreciate receiving news about your project so we can measure the impact of this program.

The deadline to apply for funding is midnight (GMT), 15 February 2016. Late applications will not be accepted.

Australia/New Zealand

The CS4HS award application requires the following information

  • General information about you, including contact details and institution information
  • Details of faculty members involved in the project or other colleges/universities that will be partnered with
  • A clear breakdown of how the funding will be used
  • Details of the project, including the format and content
  • Participant information, including target audience, recruiting strategy and number of participants expected to be reached
  • Plans on follow up activity and continued learning for the target audience

Deadline

The application deadline is midnight (AEST), 26 February 2016. You will be notified by 14 March 2016 if your request for a CS4HS award has been successful.

Allocations

Institutions in Australia and New Zealand may receive support of up to $15,000 each.

Canada

The CS4HS award application requires the following information

  • General information about you, including institution and contact information
  • A clear course description, including primary focus, goals, and course outline
  • A clear breakdown of budget and how sponsorship funds will be used
  • How your course will address one or more of the following standards:
    • Common Core State Standards (CCSS),
    • Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS),
    • Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Computer Science Standards,
    • International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Computer Science Educator Standards
    • Other
  • Participant information including target audience, CS or non-CS teacher focus, number of expected participants, and the participant recruitment strategy
  • If you will be collaborating with other colleges/universities and the nature of that partnership
  • If you have a proposed start date and timeline
  • How you will develop and/or support a Community of Practice
  • (Optional) If you are interested in an additional research component to the course

The application deadline is midnight (PDT) 14 March 2016. You will be notified by mid April 2016 if your request for CS4HS funding has been successful.

Institutions in Canada may receive support of up to $35,000 each.

China

The CS4HS Award application requires the following information:

  • General information about you, including institution and contact information
  • A clear course description, including primary focus, goals, and course outline
  • A clear breakdown of budget and how sponsorship funds will be used
  • Participant information including target audience, CS or non-CS teacher focus, number of expected participants, and the participant recruitment strategy
  • If you will be collaborating with other colleges/universities and the nature of that partnership
  • If you have a proposed start date and timeline

The CS4HS award application requires the following information

  • A clear description of the professional development opportunity, including primary focus, goals, and agenda/course outline
  • A clear breakdown of budget allocation of how all funds will be used including a % of funds to be spent supporting a community of practice
  • How your content will address the Seven Big Ideas of the CS principles framework as set by the College Board’s AP Computer Science Principles curriculum
  • How you will develop and/or support a Community of Practice
  • Participant information including target audience, CS or non-CS teacher focus, number of expected participants, and the participant recruitment strategy
  • If you will be collaborating with other colleges/universities/organizations and the nature of that partnership
  • If you have a proposed start date and timeline
  • (Optional) If you are interested in an additional research component to the course
